My Hospital Foundation volunteers generously share their time, skills and experience to support patients, their families, visitors and hospital staff. Our dedicated, friendly and enthusiastic volunteer network plays a vital role in enhancing the care and comfort provided across the Mackay Hospital.
We are proud to acknowledge the invaluable support of Community Bank Sarina – Bendigo Bank, whose sponsorship plays an important role in supporting our volunteers. Through their commitment to reinvesting in local communities, Community Bank Sarina – Bendigo Bank proudly sponsors our volunteer program by providing a welcome pack and uniform for each volunteer. This support helps ensure our volunteers feel welcomed, recognised and equipped from their very first day.
Community Bank Sarina – Bendigo Bank invests up to 80% of profits back into the community, supporting initiatives through grants, sponsorships and scholarships that help build a resilient, sustainable and thriving region. Their partnership with My Hospital Foundation is a wonderful example of community investment in action, and we are sincerely grateful for their ongoing support of our volunteers.
The Valuable Services Our Volunteers Provide
Our volunteers support the hospital community from Monday to Saturday each week, providing a wide range of services including:
Manning the Information Desk in the hospital foyer
Daily Children’s Play Group in the Child and Adolescent Unit
Daily trolley service throughout the hospital campus
Daily library trolley service distributing magazines to patients
Assistance with fundraising activities
Support and assistance in various wards, including the Emergency Department, BreastScreen Clinic and Day Surgery
Patient transfers from both Proserpine and Sarina to Mackay Base Hospital
Whether you are available weekly, fortnightly, monthly or on an as-needed basis, your contribution will be valued and appreciated. In return for your time, you will become part of a welcoming and supportive volunteer team and gain the reward of knowing you are making a meaningful difference in your local community.
