Helping improve breast cancer surgery in our region
My Hospital Foundation is raising $115,000 to help fund a Trident HD System for breast cancer surgery in the Mackay and greater Whitsundays region. The Trident allows surgeons to check the margins of cancerous cells during the surgical procedure. This means doctors can confirm they have removed all cancerous tissue while the patient is still in surgery, significantly reducing the need for additional operations.
For patients and their families, this can mean fewer surgeries, less stress and better recovery outcomes.
Through our Breast Intentions fundraising initiative, we are calling on the Mackay community to help bring this important equipment to our region.
Anyone in the community can contribute to this important cause. To help reach the fundraising target faster, My Hospital Foundation has formed a committee – who have created two community challenges for local businesses and organisations to get involved.
Mackay’s Breast Gym Challenge
Are you a local gym ready to take on the challenge?
Mackay gyms are invited to get their members moving and raise funds through a fun and competitive fitness challenge.
You might choose to:
Put your Breast Foot Forward with a walking challenge
Show that Chest Is Best with a push-up challenge
Create your own fitness challenge with members and trainers
Every participating gym will be featured across My Hospital Foundation social media, helping promote your gym while supporting a powerful cause. The gym that raises the most funds will earn the title of Mackay’s Breast Gym – along with bragging rights and prizes.
Most importantly, your efforts will help improve surgical outcomes for breast cancer patients in our region.
Breast Intentions Business Challenge
Businesses across Mackay are invited to join the Breast Intentions Challenge and raise funds for the Trident HD System.
Your business can get creative – host an event, run a team challenge, collect donations from customers or organise workplace fundraising activities. Every participating business will be featured on My Hospital Foundation social media, recognising your support for local patients and families.
Businesses that raise more than $5,000 will go into the draw to win a major media package, proudly supported by:
