There are plenty of ways donations have helped across Mackay Hospital and Health Service, from big projects to small. Here are just a few recent projects:
Establishment of a Mental Health gym facility to enhance the effectiveness of psychological therapies and improve quality of life and symptom management for patients
Blanket warmers in two surgical units to warm patients and reduce complications prior to surgery, during and post-surgery
Establishment of a calming Wellness Garden to enhance health and wellness for Emergency Department staff
A state-of-the-art integrated Panda Warmer to care for infants in the Children’s Unit
Ceiling tile artwork by Claire Rackley to aid diversionary therapies in the Surgical division
Shade Sails installed in the public courtyard at Mackay Base Hospital provide a pleasant shaded outdoor area for visitors and staff
Patient Lifting Aids to improve comfort for patients during lifting and reduce risk of injury for staff in the Physiotherapy Unit

Play for purpose is a charity lottery that lets you win great prizes and support our local hospitals at the same time. Not only do you have a 1 in 380 chance of winning a major prize valued at $250k, plus hundreds of other fantastic prizes but you are helping to improve health outcomes for people in our local community. Tickets are just $10 each and $5 from every ticket goes straight to Mackay Hospital Foundation to ensuring outstanding healthcare is available to all who live, work and visit the Mackay region.

Giving Day 2021 started with a breakfast in the courtyard of Mackay Base Hospital for our Building Healthy Futures participants and corporate supporters.
Our very ambitious target for our first Giving Day was to raise $100,000 between 8 am and 8 pm. Thanks to our very generous Matched Donors – Anglo American, Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, Evolution Mining, Isaac Regional Council, and Mackay Base Hospital Auxiliary. They played a vital role in achieving our $100,000 target by donating $1 for every $1 we raised
