SHAVE THE DAY FOR SARINA HOSPITAL

07-Nov-2013

Sarina Hospital will welcome funds raised at the 'Sarina Shave the Day' event on 11 December.

The fundraiser will be held exactly one year after Roy McFadzen lost his battle with bowel cancer. Hairdresser daughter Lorette Mansfield and granddaughter Olivia Mansfield will lose their hair in his honour.

They and Roy's wife Veronica aim to raise $10 000 to purchase additional equipment for Sarina patients receiving palliative care at home. "During the last stages of caring for Roy at home we had the loan of a bed and ripple mattress from Sarina Hospital," says Veronica. "The benefit of having access to this level of care at home was very much appreciated."

Veronica and family are encouraging all to attend the 'Sarina Shave the Day' on 11 December from 6.30pm at the Sarina Leagues Club. Donations to be made on the night.

The Mackay Hospital Foundation supports public hospitals in Mackay, Sarina, Proserpine, Moranbah, Dysart, Clermont, Bowen and Collinsville.
