A $12,500 specialised bed will make life more comfortable for palliative, rehabilitation and chronically ill patients in Sarina Hospital, thanks to the donation from the Sarina Community Bendigo Bank Branch.
The specialised bed and air mattress called Versa Bed, cares for very sick and terminally ill patients in the Sarina and District Community. It will benefit patients who will be able to stay or transfer to Sarina hospital for their treatment and nursing care, instead of having to travel to Mackay for their treatment.
“We have one Versa Bad at the Sarina Hospital and without the support of Sarina Community Bendigo Bank we would have found it difficult to purchase a second one. This special bed is in constant use, aids the very ill patients to minimise pressure injuries and aids our nursing staff to provide continuous high quality care for our patients.” Maura Keogh, Director of Nursing at Sarina Hospital said.
“The bank is very committed to supporting the community and believes the hospital is a beneficial cause for the Sarina district as a whole,” Sarina Community Bank Branch Manager Roanna Brady said. “At Sarina Community Bank Branch we recognise that health care, schools, sporting and community groups are an important part of the community,” said Sarina Community Bank Company Chairman, Ralph Johnson. “That’s why we show our support in many different ways. At the beginning of this year we donated 10 digital televisions for the Sarina Hospital and this grant now has funded the specialised bed for very sick patients”.
