Mad Hog WLA Ride raises $14,000 for oncology

22-Oct-2012

The Mad Hog WLA Ride in September 2012 raised $14,000 for the Oncology Ward at the Mackay Base Hospital.

The Mackay & District Harley Owners Group spent seven days riding  from Mackay to Cairns and back in aid of the oncology ward. The inspiration behind this fundraising event is Graham Omand, Harley Davidson enthusiast, who is battling his own cancer fight and wanted to combine his"life dream event" with giving back to the community.

The funds raised at this event will have a big impact for cancer patients who are suffering from head and neck cancer. Two additional naso-endoscopes will be purchased for the visiting radiation oncologist, enabling these cancer patients to stay in Mackay for treatment rather than traveling to Townsville.

Congratulations to the Mackay & District harley Owners Group for this successful event. We thank all the sponsors, donors and all the riders for participating in the WLA ride to support our local hospital.
