Give Me 5 for Kids 2012

Sick children at the Mackay Base and Proserpine Hospitals will benefit from a $37,519.00 donation from SEA FM’s recent Give Me Five For Kids fundraiser held in June.  Mackay Hospital Foundation manager Mayte Sanchez congratulated the team from Sea FM Jay, Dave and Liana, on this month-long fundraiser.

“The SEA FM team have done a terrific job and our community and businesses that got behind the Give Me Five for Kids campaign have to be congratulated, it is fantastic to see the support that SEA FM receives from our community”.

Give Me 5 for Kids' is a huge community based fundraiser where, for the month of June, all Southern Cross Media Centres turn themselves over to raise money for their local Children's Hospital Services. Jay and Dave from SEA FM said “We love running the Give Me Five for Kids campaign, it is an exhausting time as we invest many hours into the organisation of this big event, but it is very rewarding as all the funds raised here, stay here for our children services at the Base and Proserpine Hospitals”.

Helen Alvers, Nurse Unit Manager of the Children and Adolescent Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital was very impressed with the funds raised this year. “These guys do such an amazing job, Jay even came along to the Children’s ward and did a night shift here with us, sharing stories with staff, patients and their families. It was very touching”.

This year’s funds will be invested into a range of paediatric equipment which falls outside of government funding like an electric cot, special children’s air mattresses and wheelchair scales.
