Inspired by the fantastic care that Allan McLauchlan’s grandson Braxton received at the Special Care Nursery of the Mackay Base Hospital last year, he organised a charity golf event to show his appreciation. Allan McLauchlan from 888 Poker League joined forces with the Mackay Golf Club and Powerhouse Ford last December and raised nearly $13,000 for the Mackay Hospital Foundation to purchase special medical equipment for an Open Care System for the Special Care Nursery.
Due to the outstanding success of the event, the Brax Charity Golf Day has become an annual event and it will be on again on Friday 8 June 2012. Major sponsors are the Mackay Golf Club, Harvey World Travel, G&S Engineering, 888 Poker League and Powerhouse Ford, who has donated a New Ford Ranger for the winner of the hole in one shoot out, on the day.
Proceeds of the Brax Charity Golf Day will go to the Mackay Hospital Foundation. “We see a great opportunity in working with the Mackay Hospital Foundation for the benefit of the whole community. We support a local charity that enhances our local health care services by purchasing state-of-the-art and additional medical equipment for the Mackay Base Hospital” said Allan McLauchlan, organiser of the Brax Charity Golf Day.

Supporting the Mackay Base Hospital through the Mackay Hospital Foundation is a great way to give back to our community, now we need to work on our golfing skills.”

The Brax Charity Golf Day is held at the Mackay Golf Club, Friday 8 June 2012, it is a 4 Man Ambrose and shot gun start is at 11.00am. Team entry fee is $350.00 which includes lunch, $25.00 worth of raffle tickets per person, BBQ at the presentation. All proceeds will go to the Mackay Hospital Foundation.

The donations received by the Foundation are given to the specialised area or hospital that YOU have chosen. If a hospital or area is not chosen in the MHHS district donations are allocated to ‘greatest needs’.
