Unanticipated trips to hospital for local children have been given an enjoyable twist, with young patients and their siblings taking part in charity Christmas cards design workshops. Children attending Play Group at Mackay Base Hospital have lent their creative talents to produce a stellar array of Christmas card designs for the Mackay Hospital Foundation.
From snowmen and snow angels to bells and Christmas trees, a great range of designs were submitted by children during the Christmas in July art program, sponsored by Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal Pty Ltd. Ms Adrienne Burke, General Manager, Mackay Hospital Foundation and Ms Sharon Johnston, Senior Specialist Public Relations, Dalrymple Bay coal Terminal today viewed the fantastic range of Christmas themed artwork prepared by local sick children in hospital.
Five designs will grace the cover of the Mackay Hospital Foundation’s charity Christmas Cards this year, with the children very excited by the thought of having their artwork released to the public.
Ms Burke said “100% of the proceeds of the sale of the Christmas Cards, sponsored by Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal, will go to the Mackay Hospital Foundation and stay within our community”.
The Christmas Cards will be available for sale from October from the Mackay Base Hospital, from supporting businesses, by contacting the Foundation on 4885 5915 or email info@mackayhospitalfoundation.com.au or from volunteers selling the cards at Caneland Central and Mt Pleasant Shopping Centre.
Local businesses and community groups can also opt to sell the Christmas cards over the counter of their workplace, using a Mackay Hospital Foundation donation box and card stand.
The Mackay Hospital Foundation is the local and independent charity behind the Mackay Base Hospital and other public hospitals within the region. Over the last three and a half years, over half a million dollars’ worth of additional and state-of-the-art medical equipment has been purchased through community donations.
