Mackay Police members attended a ‘Thank you’ morning tea at the Mackay Base Hospital yesterday, where they were acknowledged for their contribution to the Mackay Hospital Foundation.
Proceeds from last year’s Police Charity Ball were donated some months ago to purchase an iPad and six diversional dolls (patient puppets) for the hospital Children’s Ward. Yesterday the police were informed of how patients have benefited from the items, which have seen frequent use since their purchase.
An inspired Sergeant Helen Newman is keen to continue the partnership between the Mackay Police and the Foundation. Sergeant Helen and the Children’s Ward staff are enthusiastically generating ideas on how to further improve the hospital environment for kids.

Making a donation to your local hospital through the Mackay Hospital Foundation is quick and simple. To select an option that best suits you simply choose your preferred method:
The donations received by the Foundation are given to the specialised area or hospital that YOU have chosen. If a hospital or area is not chosen in the MHHS district donations are allocated to ‘greatest needs’.
All donations over $2.00 are tax deductible.
